Barcelona is regarded as Spain's second largest city, and the largest one is the capital city, Madrid. The city is steeped in history. Barcelona was founded by the Carthaginians and its name is derived from the great Barca family of ancient Carthage. After numerous different conquers, including the Romans and Moores that ravaged the city, the Aragonese made Catalonia, of which Barcelona was the capital, strong and prosperous. Since the 1970s, the city has reasserted its Catalan background. It wasn't until the Summer Olympics of 1992 did Barcelona become the modern, vibrant city. And with this prosperity have come luxury and fabulous hotels.

As the designer of buildings like the Casa Calvet and the Casa Mila, Antoni Gaudi is credited with making the greatest impact on the image of Barcelona. He also built the fantastic Park Guell.

There are various attractions in Barcelona: monuments, architecture, and the gastronomy. Barcelona has commercial areas and shopping centers. You can enjoy the scenery while window-shopping.

One brand that's hot in the fashion world is Miro, and its trendy designs of clothing and shoes originate in Barcelona. The region itself now produces other international brands, such as the Gallic giant Lacose.

The visit to the city would not be complete without a tour of the Nou Camp, the home of Barcelona Football Club. F. C. The team was founded in 1899 along with the other Spanish team, Real Madrid. It's one of the greatest football teams in Europe. F. C. Barcelona is credited to winning more trophies than any other teams in European football history. The stadium, the Nou Camp, can hold one hundred and twelve thousand people, making it one of the greatest places to watch and play "the beautiful game".
